YOUNG PEOPLE MIGRATE TO TOWN IN ORDER TO SEEK A BETTER LIFE.
A statement given by Resmi Persidangan Dewan Undangan Negeri by Timbalan Ketua Menteri dan Pemodenan Pertanian dan Menteri pembangunan Luar Bandar. On the 11June 2011, according to static registered by system e kasih, there are 55,975 poor families in Sarawak.Iban 13,349 are hard core families representing 47.8%, Malays 5,601, representing 20 percent among the core poor families. Sarawak, most of the long house in the interior is empty because most young people are forced to migrate to the city in order to find better jobs. About 70 percent of the population who are still in long house and mostly it is the elderly and those still in school. Excerpt release the Star on June 14, 2011, saying that “no Jobs for Us, a local complain.” One example of why young people had to leave home. Development SCORE portrayed by the chief minister of Sarawak, is said to proved employment opportunities to people to people of Sarawak, but the fact is employment opportunities for local residents but not for all that only one statement is used only untrue overwhelm the public and the world.
The Penan in Murum, Belaga feel aggrieved by the Dam Murum without any consultation with resident. Apart from heading will be moved residence and loss of land, forests, food sources and rives, they are not given jobs at the site of them dam, with a pedestal that the Penan’s not school and know how to read and write. According to one of the Youths who, as far as working as a security guard at the gate, it is not hard to do without knowing how to read and write. Many who came at the project site outside of the dam is composed of Chinese nationals from China.
In the area oil palm plantations, indigenous people have also been experiencing hardship, when they are working in oil palm plantations will only receive a salary of RM 13- RM 14 per day. If they are accepted as a farm supervisor their salaries offered around RM 800- RM 1000. With the rising cost of living is too high, especially in the village price of food, fuel massive, young people decide to migrate to town to find a better income.
In addition, the lack of facilities and one factor these young men and young women raced to the cities. The government should improve the facilities in each villagers example in the press on July 14, 2011 “ Ulu Baram should have a telecommunication tower” apart from that a good road to each villages.
The government should have a law which can help those local workers who work in Timber  Camp or other sectors, their salary should be higher or better than the foreigners workers. Sarawak is one of the riches state in Malaysia but on the other hand, Sarawak is the poorest state in Malaysia. There 55,975 poor families in Sarawak. As for Orang Ulu, 2,925 families  even more than that which is not being recorded.
