RIVER MAIN SOURCE OF PROTEIN FOR VILLAGERS.

DAP- MIRI- On behalf of YB Alan Ling,  YB Fong Pau Teck, so sorry and worry about the quality of rivers and streams in Sarawak. Many years back when was still schooling at my villager at Ulu Baram in the year of  70's and 80's the river of Baram not yet contaminated. All the small streams at Ulu Baram was still clear and clean. The activities that we used to do when we were still young boy was went for fishing, snogelling and picnic. We enjoying ourselves by going for  picnic, bathing, eating some fish that we caught.
In the year of  1990's, the river of Baram started to mud and contaminated by the timber activities.All the rivers in Sarawak are muddy and contaminated. In Sarawak there many rivers like Sg.Sarawak, Rajang, Sadong, Limbang, Tinjar, Baleh, Balaga, Bakong and many other more that not written here.All the rivers are contaminated and hardly be used for the purpose of daily used.
When the river is contaminated and muddy the less fish can be found. Along the those rivers there are so many villagers and the river main source of protein for them.But now compare to those are the days we can easily go and  caught fish, to our suprise the whole day we go for fishing we can caught more than half a kilo.The reason why the fishes are less because of the contaminated water. For long term, the fish might not healthy for the villagers and might cause all kinds of illness and diseases.
What cause these rivers contaminated and muddy are Timber activities, oil Palm plantations, and trees plantations.These are the primarily cause of the rivers muddy and contaminated. There are some other activity that might cause the fish becoming less is poisoning the fish and this poison they can buy in the town.
The government should do something to protect all the rivers in Sarawak. Is there any enforcement rule for the activities that had happened.Compensation should be given to those who involed in illegal activities. These plantations used all kinds faterlizers and gramozens for their plantation.The government should monitar and send enforcement group to check on them. The government should look into the people's healthy environment.  

Driving with high risk and fear. ( MIRI- KUCHING ROAD )

DAP- Miri. When ever holidays comes most peoples will going back home to meet their family members and relatives.  I and my family also spend our holiday in Betong. The journey will takes nine hours of traveling via road by car We just travel by a Kancil car.
When we travel we have a fear and it will take high risk for us to travel by road because of the situation of the Miri- Kuching road. The condition of the road started bad and hole pools  from Miri towm up to Kuching. No doubt there is some repairs of the road but it just covered the hole pools and even do the repair when the election comes. Why do the road in Sarawak still unrepaired or construct in properly ways.
As we driving at night we need go by the guiding of the white line and yellow line. The Miri to Kuching road, we hardly see the white line and the yellow line. We hope the government do something with it  so that it might help those who travels via this road. Most of the accident may cause by the bad condition of the road.
We DAP, would like to inform and ask the government of Sarawak to do something to make sure the road in Sarawak is better.
